Catch up day 18 Medicaid at 50- State Highlights Texas

Yeah yeah yeah… Texas should expand Medicaid…. Highest uninsured rate in the country.. women’s health… but let’s be positive!

Texas has taken up the Community First Choice state plan option!

This option, made possible by the Affordable Care Act, gives states additional funding to provide person centered home and community-based personal care services to people needing assistance with activities of daily living. The program is required to provide services across the state to all people who meet an institutional level of care up to 150% of the federal poverty level. Texas was one of the first states to implement the program.

This program is good for the state, because of the additional funding provided by the federal government and good for the Medicaid beneficiaries in the state because it gives them a chance to receive services outside of a nursing facility setting, in the home where they usually prefer.
