Catch up day 16: Medicaid at 50: Researchers

Social science is a difficult field to conduct experiments. The social part means that it is human lives and ethics plays a crucial role. Medicaid has created many opportunities for researchers to design and implement controlled experiments. Most notably is the randomized controlled trial that is the Oregon Health Insurance Experiment. 

But this isn’t the only experiment out there.

Here is a bunch of random trials about homelessness.

Here is one about Washington state disabled beneficiaries.

Here is one about outreach to kids.

The difference between states that expand and don’t expand gives researchers the ability to ask and answer many questions about the role of Medicaid. Knowledge is always better than confusion.
